By many this is considered the immune boosting herb for people with Lyme Disease. Besides enhancing the immune system’s killer cells, this herb is also neuroprotective. For these two reasons it is a cornerstone of support for people with Lyme.
Japanese Knotweed is considered an anti-inflammatory and immune balancing herb and is good for healing the heart, joints, and brain. In addition to being an immune balancing and body protecting herb, John Hopkins studies have shown this to be particularly effective in attacking Lyme and Bartonella.
Herx calm has been shown to reduce nerve inflammation and pain while enhancing immune system function. While they cannot be completely eliminated in all people, adding this to my protocols has greatly reduced the severity and frequency of die off/herx reactions.
Garlic is one of my favorite herbs for attacking Lyme and Bartonella. In a 2018 study it was found to be nearly 3 times as effective as doxycycline against persister Lyme. Garlic has antimicrobial effects, but is also cardioprotective and anti-inflammatory for joints which makes it extremely useful for many people suffering from Lyme. Pro tip: You may need to buy mints if you want to kiss someone after taking this.
Neem is one of my favorite herbs for people who have Babesia, viruses, or other parasites. Neem is uniquely helpful to the liver and thus we get less frequent die off/herx from Neem than I do from the more famous wormwood.
Chinese Skullcap is generally beneficial for the nervous system so anyone struggling with a central or peripheral nerve problem such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, burning, tingling, or pain may benefit from Chinese Skullcap. It has a triple whammy of also showing good activity against Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia. As it can attack Lyme and its co-infections, support normal nervous system activity, and has immune balancing properties this is another herb I often find particularly useful if you have neurological symptoms as part of your Chronic Lyme.
Why do the liquids taste terrible?
Can the herbal tinctures be combined together?
What do I do if the herx effects are overwhelming or “show stopping”
What if I can’t tolerate anything?
