By many this is considered the immune boosting herb for people with Lyme Disease. Besides enhancing the immune system’s killer cells, this herb is also neuroprotective. For these two reasons it is a cornerstone of support for people with Lyme.
Japanese Knotweed is considered an anti-inflammatory and immune balancing herb and is good for healing the heart, joints, and brain. In addition to being an immune balancing and body protecting herb, John Hopkins studies have shown this to be particularly effective in attacking Lyme and Bartonella.
Herx calm has been shown to reduce nerve inflammation and pain while enhancing immune system function. While they cannot be completely eliminated in all people, adding this to my protocols has greatly reduced the severity and frequency of die off/herx reactions.
Chinese Skullcap is generally beneficial for the nervous system so anyone struggling with a central or peripheral nerve problem such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, burning, tingling, or pain may benefit from Chinese Skullcap. It has a triple whammy of also showing good activity against Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia. As it can attack Lyme and its co-infections, support normal nervous system activity, and has immune balancing properties this is another herb I often find particularly useful if you have neurological symptoms as part of your Chronic Lyme.
Clove was in the 2017 Johns Hopkins study along with Oregano, and showed terrific activity against persistent Borrelia (Lyme). Indeed, Clove reduced the Lyme to 6% whereas Doxycycline the antibiotic only reduced the persistent Lyme to 70%. As this is a common food spice, I have found this particular lyme attacking herb to be very well tolerated by most people.
Wormwood is chiefly an anti-microbial and anti-parasitic herb. There are many parasites that can come alongside Lyme (Babesia is the most famous) and I have found this to be an essential herb for many people in their healing journey. It is quite a potent oxidant, and I have had much better results overall when I moved it later into protocols (such as bundle 3) rather than using it first.
Why do the liquids taste terrible?
Can the herbal tinctures be combined together?
What do I do if the herx effects are overwhelming or “show stopping”
What if I can’t tolerate anything?
