What is SIBO?

SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). This condition occurs when bacteria that are supposed to stay in the large intestine/colon begin to travel up into the small intestine. This bacteria then ends up feeding on the food in our small intestine creating a fermentation process, which can lead to significant symptoms such as gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, nausea, abdominal cramping and more. If left unaddressed, it can also contribute to leaky gut or intestinal permeability that can create chronic inflammation potentially leading to other chronic conditions, including autoimmunity, down the road.

How to eat short-term and long-term to give
you the best chance at defeating SIBO

Low Fermentation Diet

It is suggested to follow the Low Fermentation Diet during the first 12 weeks/3 months while you are taking the products in the NutriRestore SIBO Starter Kit. The Low Fermentation Diet is used to significantly limit the amount of fuel we feed the unwanted microbes, such as bacteria, by focusing on foods that have a lower glycemic index. This means not eating foods with sugar, processed carbohydrates or anything that breaks down into a lot of sugar. Sugar feeds the unwanted microbes in the gut, which then makes them more resistant and difficult to eliminate.

Grain-Free/Dairy-Free Diet

It is suggested to be on the Grain-Free/Dairy-Free Diet after completing the SIBO Starter Kit, while taking any additional kits (SIBO Leaky Gut Repair Kit and/or the SIBO Defense Kit), and also as a maintenance diet following the completion of the kits/SIBO Program. The Grain-Free/Dairy-Free Diet is used following the Low Fermentation Diet to help minimize inflammation by staying away from the most common sensitivities we see in our clinic, which are grains and dairy. This diet is recommended during the SIBO Leaky Gut Repair Kit and the SIBO Defense Kit because we are still trying to promote healing within the gut. The diet can play a huge role for most in gut repair. After finishing the kits, this diet is still recommended to give you the best chance at maintaining any progress you may have made while going through the SIBO kits/bundles. If you want to know if you can reintroduce grains or dairy, then getting tested through a functional medicine clinic is our best suggestion to help eliminate the guessing. Test, don’t guess.

FAQs from our SIBO Community:

Can SIBO be dangerous if left unaddressed?

Yes, if the root cause isn’t addressed, it can lead to other symptoms, conditions and nutritional deficiencies.

Do these products contain Wheat /Soy/ Gluten/ MSG?

No. All products are free of wheat, grains, dairy, soy and are non-GMO

How do I know when these supplements are helping me?

We encourage you to use our Progress Tracker to monitor your symptoms over the course of the first few months. This can help give you a more clear picture of your progress. Please note: the progress tracker is automated based off of years of clinical experience and isn’t medical advice.

Should these supplements be refrigerated? Or stored at room temp?
None of the supplements require refrigeration and can be stored at room temperature.
How long do I take these supplements for while on the program?

3-6 months is the average amount of time people are on the bundle(s). Although, many people use these supplements ongoing, we suggest you always consult with your licensed healthcare provider for medical advice if you plan on using the supplements long-term or more than 6 months.

Are there any supplements I should STOP taking, while on your SIBO program?

The most common supplements people with SIBO have a difficult time tolerating are fiber and probiotic supplements. If there are questions in regards to potential interactions with other medications or supplements, always consult with your licensed healthcare provider for medical advice.

Are there any side effects to taking these products?

If you are sensitive to supplements/herbs or have microbial overgrowth, you could experience side effects from mainly the Ultra Oregano. The Ultra Oregano can contribute to a Herxheimer or detox response. This is when a microbe like bacteria is killed off by something like Ultra Oregano and then the immune system comes to clean up the debris. In this process, a normal inflammatory response happens and is the first stage of healing. Common Herx/detox symptoms are general nausea, fatigue, headaches, neck pain, irritability, mood swings, gastrointestinal bloating, flu-like symptoms, constipation and/or diarrhea for the first 1-2 weeks while on the products. If you are sensitive, there are specific suggested instructions you will receive on how to start low, build up and find the dose that you feel works best for you.

Please note this is not medical advice. Always consult with your licensed healthcare provider for medical advice with respect to treatment.
Can I eat whatever I want during or after your SIBO program?

You will have specific dietary suggestions for the first 3 months and then dietary suggestions after the first 3 months are complete. Without thorough individual testing, these suggestions are based on what we feel has worked best over several years of experience. Without applying the diet, there’s a much less chance of seeing the results you were hoping for.

What happens if I miss a round of supplements? Should I take twice as much next time?

No. The suggestions that you receive are just based on a single day. If a day is missed, the suggestion is to take the same daily dose the following day.

If I take these supplements all at once, will it make a difference?
The suggested dosage and timing of each product is mentioned in the instructions . It is important to take these products in the way that they are suggested and to follow the instructions.
